Patterns are how kids first learn to think mathematically. Spotting what comes next in a sequence is the same reasoning that will help them solve equations later.

This pattern worksheet gives Pre-K and Reception learners practise with AB, ABC, and simple growing patterns.

How to use this worksheet

Point to each item in the pattern and say it out loud. Red, blue, red, blue. Then ask your child what comes next. If they need a hint, cover the last few items and let them focus on the pattern piece by piece. Once they get it, encourage them to make their own pattern using crayons or blocks.

💡 Tip: Sit with your child during the first few questions to make sure they understand the instructions, then let them work independently.
