Grade 4 General Knowledge

Purpose & benefits

Every kid can learn to draw with the right instructions. This step-by-step drawing worksheet breaks the process into small pieces so students end up with something they are actually proud of.

Kindergarten through Grade 3 learners follow the steps, one at a time, to build up to a finished drawing. Teachers use it for art blocks, indoor recess, or as a directed drawing lesson. Homeschool families pull it out for creativity time.

How to use this worksheet

Walk through each step together for the first few pictures. Once your child understands the format, let them work independently. Remind them that their drawing does not have to look exactly like the example. The steps are guidance, not rules.

💡 Tip: Sit with your child during the first few questions to make sure they understand the instructions, then let them work independently.

About this worksheet

Directed drawing builds confidence

Kids who say they cannot draw usually just need a system. Directed drawing gives them that system. Break the drawing into 4 to 8 steps, add one shape at a time, and suddenly kids who thought they had no talent are producing real pictures they want to keep.

This drawing worksheet gives Kindergarten through Grade 3 students a step-by-step guide. Teachers can use it during art class, as an early finisher activity, or as a calm end-of-day project. Homeschool families find drawing works great as a break from academic subjects. Print on standard paper. Have crayons or coloured pencils ready to finish each drawing once the outline is done.
